Qiqihar University

Qiqihar University, founded in 1952, is the only provincial comprehensive university of higher learning in the western region of Heilongjiang Province. The University is located by the Labor Lake in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, the hometown of red-crowned cranes. It covers an area of 1.39 million square meters and has a building area of 850,000 square meters. It enjoys the reputation of "University around the Lake". The university is one of the three comprehensive universities in Heilongjiang Province. It is a national civilized unit, an excellent School evaluated by the Ministry of Education for Undergraduate Teaching and a key university in Heilongjiang Province for Stronger Higher Education.In November 1952, the school moved from Bei 'an City to Qiqihar City and was renamed Heilongjiang Qiqihar Industrial School. In October 1955, the school was renamed Qiqihar Chemical Industry School because its subordinate relationship changed from the Central and local Industry Ministry to the newly established Third Central Machinery Ministry, which still insisted on the dual leadership of the provincial Industry Department.
