Anhui Institute of Technology is a provincial multi-disciplinary university specializing in engineering and a key construction university in Anhui Province. It is a project university for the construction of basic capabilities for the central and western regions of China under the national program, a pilot university for intellectual property reform, a first batch of pilot universities for comprehensive reform in Anhui Province, a pilot unit for the reform of independent innovation rights in Anhui Province, a pilot unit for the first batch of projects to grant researchers the ownership or long-term usage rights of their scientific and technological achievements, and a key construction unit for doctoral degrees in Anhui Province. The university is located in the national open city of Wuhu. Its educational history began in 1935 with Anhui Private Nishan Senior Vocational School, and has gone through stages such as Wuhu Electric Machinery Manufacturing School (subordinate to the former National First Machinery Industry Department), Wuhu Mechanical School, Anhui Institute of Mechanical Engineering, and Anhui Institute of Engineering Technology. It was approved as a master's degree granting institution in 2003 and renamed Anhui Institute of Technology in 2010. The total construction area of the school's buildings is 757,300 square meters, and the total value of the instruments and equipment is 934 million yuan. Currently, there are over 19,500 full-time undergraduate students, over 2,600 graduate students (including international students), and over 1,800 faculty members. Among them, there are over 600 people with senior professional titles. The school has invited renowned scholars at home and abroad, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, to serve as part-time professors. It has also introduced high-level talents to serve as leading figures in their respective disciplines. Over 130 people have received provincial-level or above talent projects and teaching名师 (team) titles， and 367 people have won awards in provincial-level or above teacher teaching competitions. The school has gradually built a teaching and research team with rich teaching experience， high academic level， and strong research capabilities. The school has always regarded fostering moral character as its fundamental task. The school is one of the top 50 universities in national graduate employment success stories, an exemplary university for college students' innovation and entrepreneurship education in Anhui Province, a leading university in the construction of course ideological and political education, and a provincial-level "dual base" construction demonstration university. It was approved as the first batch of provincial-level entrepreneurship colleges in Anhui Province. In 2023 and 2024, it was consecutively rated as an outstanding unit in the employment work of college students in the province.
