Nanchang University is Nanchang University's national "double first-class" construction university , national "211 Project" key universities, national "Central and Western Universities Comprehensive Strength Improvement Plan" and "Central and Western Universities Basic Capacity Construction Project" selected universities, universities jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the people's Government of Jiangxi Province, first-class universities in Jiangxi Province as a whole [64], It is one of the first demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the main node unit of the China Education and Research Computer Network (CERNET) of the Ministry of Education in Jiangxi, the executive director unit of the China Education Exchange Association, the demonstration base of the Ministry of Education for studying in China, the study abroad training base of the Ministry of Education Service Center for studying abroad, and the advanced test center of the National HSK online test. The former Jiangxi Medical College, Jiangxi University and Jiangxi Industrial University trace their origins to Jiangxi Public Medical School founded in 1921, National Chung Cheng University founded in 1940 and Jiangxi Institute of Technology founded in 1958. In 1993, Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee and People's Government decided to merge Jiangxi University with Jiangxi Industrial University to form Nanchang University. 2005 Nanchang University merged with the former Jiangxi Medical College to form the new Nanchang University. As of November 2023, the university has three campuses, namely Qianhu Lake, Qingshan Lake and East Lake. The main campus of Qianhu Lake covers an area of 4,264.54 mu with a construction area of 1.5 million square meters. It has 42 teaching units, 5 directly affiliated hospitals, and 97 undergraduate specialties. It has 18 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 22 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 3 categories authorized for doctoral professional degrees, 49 first-level disciplines authorized for master degrees, and 35 categories authorized for master professional degrees.
