Guangdong Ocean University (Guangdong Ocean University), referred to as: Guangdong Ocean University, is located in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. It is a provincial key construction university jointly established by the State Oceanic Administration and the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, and a key discipline construction university for high-level universities in Guangdong Province. It is a member of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, selected into the Outstanding Agricultural and Forestry Talents Education and Training Program, and is an outstanding institution in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education. The school’s predecessor was the Guangdong Provincial Senior Fisheries Vocational School founded in 1935. On January 10, 1997, Zhanjiang Fisheries College and Zhanjiang Agricultural College merged to form Zhanjiang Ocean University. In December 2001, Zhanjiang Meteorological School, a national key technical secondary school, was merged. On June 15, 2005, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Zhanjiang Ocean University was renamed Guangdong Ocean University. As of November 2022, the school has three campuses: Huguang Campus (school headquarters), Xiashan Campus, and Haibin Campus, with a total area of 4,892 acres, a total building area of 962,800 square meters, and a library collection of 4,614,200 books (including e-books) , teaching and scientific research equipment is worth 691 million yuan, and fixed assets are worth 2.518 billion yuan; the school has 19 colleges, offering 83 undergraduate majors and 39 higher vocational and junior college majors; it has 3 first-level discipline doctoral programs and 11 first-level disciplines. There are master's degree programs in disciplines and 12 professional master's degree categories; there are 40,000 full-time undergraduates, graduate students, and international students, and 19,000 adult higher education students; there are 2,520 faculty members, including 1,775 full-time teachers.
