Liaoning Petrochemical University (LiaoNing Petrochemical University), located in Fushun City, Liaoning Province, is a multi-disciplinary provincial key university featuring petroleum and petrochemicals. Liaoning Province, PetroChina, Sinopec, and CNOOC jointly build universities. "Cultivation Plan" colleges and universities, the first batch of pilot schools for the construction of the Emergency Management College, the receiving colleges for foreign students coming to China with Chinese government scholarships, and the construction colleges and universities for first-class disciplines (Class A) in Liaoning Province. Founded in 1950, the school is the first petroleum industry school in the People's Republic of China. In 1953, it moved to Fushun to run a school, then it was named Fushun Petroleum School. In 1958, it was upgraded to Fushun Petroleum Institute. In 1970, it was renamed Fushun Institute of Chemical Technology. In 1980, Fushun Petroleum Institute was established. In November 2000, the former Fushun Coal Industry School was merged. In February 2002, it was renamed Liaoning Petrochemical University.
