Shanghai Theatre Academy

Shanghai Theatre Academy, referred to as "STA", is located in Shanghai. It is a higher art college jointly built by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. It has been selected into the National High-level University Public Graduate Program, the National "Featured Key Discipline Project" Construction University, the National Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program, the Shanghai University First-class Undergraduate Construction Leading Program The first-class postgraduate education leading program of Shanghai institutions of higher learning, and the Shanghai government scholarship institution for foreign students. The school is a member of the World Union of Drama Colleges and Universities and the ITI/UNESCO International Union of Higher Institutions of Performing Arts. The predecessor of Shanghai Drama Academy is Shanghai Municipal Experimental Drama School, which was founded on December 1, 1945. In 1949, it was renamed Shanghai Municipal Drama Academy. In 1952, after the adjustment of colleges and departments in Chinese universities, the Drama Department of the Department of Arts of Shandong University, the Drama Group of Shanghai Xingzhi Art School, and the Music Drama Group of the Art Education Department of the Southern Jiangsu Institute of Culture and Education were merged, and the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Drama was established (independently run and established). In 1956, it was officially renamed Shanghai Drama Academy, which is a key art college directly under the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China. In 2000, it was under the management of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and jointly built by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Ministry of Culture. In 2002, the former School of Performing Arts of Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Opera School and Shanghai Dance School were merged into Shanghai Drama Academy.
